Celebrating a Juneteenth Wedding in Minneapolis

This summer, I had the absolute honor of traveling back to my home state of Minnesota to capture a wedding that was not only breathtakingly beautiful, but also deeply meaningful. On June 19th, 2025, Demetrial and Emanuell said “I do” in a celebration of Black love surrounded by family, friends, and a community that cheered them on with every moment.

From the moment I arrived, there was such an undeniable energy in the air. The joy was contagious, the details were stunning, and every aspect of the day was filled with intention. Demetrial and Emanuell’s love story is one of resilience, faith, and unwavering devotion, and watching it all come to life on their wedding day was truly unforgettable.

Their ceremony was emotional, filled with laughter, tears, and heartfelt vows that spoke of strength and partnership. Every detail—from the music to the cultural traditions woven throughout—was a reflection of their heritage and their love for one another.

The reception was just as vibrant, with soulful music, joyful dancing, and a room full of people who genuinely celebrated Demetrial and Emanuell’s journey. It was the kind of night where you couldn’t help but feel the warmth of connection and the power of community.

As a wedding photographer, it’s always my goal to capture authentic love stories, but this day was so much more. It was a reminder of why I do what I do: to document moments that matter, to honor love in all of its beauty, and to preserve legacies for generations to come.
