A Love Story Rescued: A Gifted Engagement Session for a Colorado Couple
When Kat posted in a Colorado bridal Facebook group, she wasn’t just looking for advice—she was hoping for a miracle. Her heartfelt story struck a chord with me, and I knew I had to help. Here’s how her and Drew’s engagement session turned into something truly special, despite an upsetting start.
Kat and Drew had won a "free" engagement session through a giveaway hosted by another photographer. Excited for the opportunity, they attended the session and were initially happy with how it went. But when their photos were ready, they were invited to the photographer’s studio for a shocking surprise. The photographer revealed that the digitals with watermarks would cost $200, while the entire gallery without watermarks would be a staggering $1,500—the entire budget Kat and Drew had set aside for their wedding photography. Feeling blindsided and heartbroken, they left feeling hurt and taken advantage of.
As a photographer who genuinely cares about my clients, I couldn’t imagine putting a couple in such a difficult position. Their story resonated deeply with me, and I knew I wanted to make things right. I reached out to Kat and Drew immediately, offering to reshoot their engagement session at no cost. They deserved to have beautiful photos to celebrate this special chapter of their lives, as originally promised.
We decided to meet at Mount Falcon Park in Morrison, Colorado, a stunning location that perfectly embodies Colorado’s natural beauty. To make the session even more magical, we planned for sunset—a golden hour glow that would highlight their love in the most breathtaking way.
From the moment we started the session, it was clear this was going to be something special. Kat and Drew’s connection was undeniable, and their joy was contagious. We laughed, explored the park, and created moments that reflected their love story. The golden light danced around them, casting a dreamy glow over the stunning mountain backdrop. It was everything an engagement session should be: full of love, laughter, and genuine moments.
After the session, I worked hard to make sure their photos truly captured the essence of their love. When I delivered the gallery to Kat and Drew, their reaction was everything I could have hoped for. They told me how much they loved the photos, how perfectly they represented their relationship, and how much fun they’d had during the session. Kat even shared a touching message from her father, who said that God had put me in their path for a reason. It was a moment that reminded me why I do what I do.
Kat and Drew’s story is one of resilience and the power of kindness. While their experience with the giveaway could have left them disheartened, I’m so grateful I could step in and help turn things around for them. Their love and gratitude have left a lasting impression on me, and I’m honored to have been part of their journey.
To all couples out there: your engagement session should be a celebration of your love, free from stress and full of joy. I’m committed to making that a reality for each and every couple I work with. Kat and Drew, thank you for trusting me to capture your story. Here’s to many more moments of love and happiness for you both!
