Romantic Overcast Moments: An Engagement Session at Chautauqua Park in Boulder

On October 13, 2024, I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Laura and Ryan at the iconic Chautauqua Park in Boulder, Colorado, for their engagement session. This session was extra special because it marked the beginning of our journey together—I’ll also be photographing their wedding! I first connected with Laura through one of the Colorado Bridal groups on Facebook. From the moment we started chatting, I knew we’d get along great, and I was beyond excited to capture their love story.

Laura and Ryan opted for one of my wedding packages that includes an engagement session. These sessions are such a wonderful way for couples to get comfortable in front of the camera and familiarize themselves with my process before the big day. For Laura and Ryan, it was a chance to soak in the gorgeous Colorado scenery, share some laughs, and create memories they’ll cherish forever.

Though the weather was overcast, it added a romantic and soft touch to their photos. The diffused light worked beautifully, giving their images a dreamy and timeless feel. Chautauqua Park, with its stunning Flatirons and lush surroundings, served as the perfect backdrop to showcase their connection. Even though we lost the light earlier than we anticipated, we didn’t let that stop us from having fun and capturing some truly magical moments.

Laura and Ryan were naturals in front of the camera. Their genuine laughter and tender moments made my job so easy. Watching them interact—the way Ryan’s eyes lit up every time he looked at Laura, and the way she couldn’t stop smiling—was a reminder of why I love what I do.

This quick session was a beautiful preview of what’s to come for their wedding day, and I can’t wait to capture even more special moments with them as they say “I do.”
