I’ve known Sterling for many years through her music. Her talent and passion for her craft have always inspired me. Over the years, she’s worked with my fiancé, Ben, on numerous projects—so much so that he even managed her at one point. I’ve taken countless performance photos of Sterling, capturing her energy and artistry on stage. But this time, I had the privilege of focusing on a different part of her life—her love story with Loring.

During our trip back to Minnesota this summer, we carved out time for a quick getaway to Sterling’s family cabin in Wisconsin. It was Labor Day weekend, and the setting couldn’t have been more perfect. The cabin, tucked deep into the forest and perched right by the lake, was serene and peaceful—a true Midwestern gem.

We kicked off the day with their engagement portraits in the morning. The natural light filtering through the trees and reflecting off the lake was magical. As the day came to a close, we ventured back out for golden hour portraits. There’s something so magical about that warm, golden light reflecting off the water.
