Intimate Moments: A Beautiful Fall Elopement Outside the Guthrie Theater

Some love stories have a way of coming full circle, and Shelby and Gregor’s elopement is one I’ll never forget. Shelby and I go way back to our school days in Forest Lake, MN. We grew up navigating middle and high school together, and when she reached out to ask me to photograph her elopement, I was incredibly honored. It’s not every day that you get to capture such a special moment for someone you’ve known for so long.

On October 1, 2021, the scene was set at Gold Medal Park in downtown Minneapolis. Shelby and Gregor chose this spot for their intimate ceremony, with the iconic Guthrie Theater as a stunning backdrop. It was early fall, and the leaves were just starting to shift into their warm hues of yellow and orange. The air was still warm, a gentle reminder that summer hadn’t fully loosened its grip.

Their elopement was beautifully simple. It was just the two of them, their adorable daughter, and their officiant. Standing on the hill at Gold Medal Park, they exchanged heartfelt vows while the world seemed to slow down around them.
